MiG-29 vs MiG-25

If you aren't a true aviation buff, you may think all MiGs are alike. (You may also wonder why the word MiG has a tiny "i" in the middle...it's because it's short for Mikoyan Gurevich, the plane's makers.)

The MiG-29 and MiG-25 are similar, in the way a Porsche and a Cadillac Sedan are both luxury cars, but like the automobiles, each have been designed with different goals in mind.

The MiG-29 is the jet you want for maneuvers...heart-stopping, adrenaline pumping excitement inducing spins, rolls and loops. It can speed in on an enemy with force or evade enemy fire.

The MiG-25 on the other hand, was designed to go very, very high and very, very fast. She can perform a few rolls and simple maneuvers, but she's big and wasn't made for dancing through the sky.

Which jet is best for you is a matter of preference. If you love rollercoasters, you might be a MiG-29 guy. If you'd prefer to enjoy the view as you speed toward the edge of space, then climb into a pressure suit and get ready to fly a MiG-25.
